Next stop... JACKSON WYOMING! We drove from Bozeman -- through Big Sky, Yellowstone, and Idaho -- and landed right in the heart of this quaint country town! Jackson is a 400 square mile valley located right next to Grand Teton National Park. Unlike Bozeman, Jackson didn't hit us with too crazy of a snow storm (just a small one), so we were able to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and town square! If you're a small town country lover like me, Jackson needs to be top of your list. I am sharing some highlights from our trip, that you will want to make note of!
WHERE TO STAY
We stayed at the Anvil Hotel right next to the downtown area! The rooms set a vintage tone with their cozy custom iron beds, American western style, and peaceful sights. I am a sucker for an overhead rain shower, woolrich blankets, and a yummy snack basket! The Anvil Hotel is a hotspot if you're looking to stay close to the town square area. Not to mention, they have several on-site dining options that are legendary in Jackson! I'm also OBSESSED with their slogan, "You're a stranger here, but once." If you're looking for that cozy getaway, book your stay at the Anvil!
WHERE TO EAT:
This dining experience was unlike any other! The Glorietta Trattoria serves Italian Trattoria so it's main focus is handmade pasta and wood-fired cooking (& of course wine!). We were able to try some yummy cocktails that will be on their winter menu and they were delicious! Abbi and I got the white bean dip, meatballs and fettuccine alfredo - YUM! If this restaurant is your vibe, be sure to make a reservation in advance - they book fast!
Hands down, the most ADORABLE bakery I have ever stepped foot in. Not only is the outside beautiful (especially with the snow falling and the fire going!), but the inside will blow you away. Persephone Bakery is a pure classic in Jackson! It’s a French-inspired bakery and cafe with yummy breads, pastries and coffee! We made a pitstop after our morning photoshoot and it was delicious! We both got latte’s of course, then I got the "Croque Madame" and Abbi got the "Basic Breakfast" dish. If you're a sucker for cafes and coffee like us, add Persephone Bakery to your list on your trip to Jackson!
The Locals was a spur of the moment decision for us and it did not disappoint! It is located right in the downtown area next to Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. It's a modern American steakhouse with yummy cocktails and good company. I highly recommend the Einhorn cocktail, Huckleberry Old Fashion, and The snowflake signature cocktail! Abbi said that her salad was word for word "the best salad she has ever had"... and she wasn't lying! You can't go wrong with Locals to kick off your night in Jackson!
We had heard amazing things about Jackson Drug's homemade menu so we had to pop in for a quick snack before heading back! I had been dying to try Huckleberry ice cream since I stepped foot in Jackson, and I finally got it! & WOW, it was so delicious! You can make any of their ice creams into a malt as well. In true Abbi fashion, she got fries lol. Their menu is LOADED so I highly recommend making a stop at Jackson Drug!
WHAT TO DO:
It's not a trip to Jackson without a night at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar! A full line up of live music, swing dancing, two steppin', and of course you have to take a seat in the legendary cowboy saddles at the bar! Some of the finest entertainers in the country western scene have been known to take the stage here such as Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, and the James Cotton Blues Band. It's truly no ordinary bar -- countless celebrities, presidents, royalty, and more have enjoyed a night at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Their doors have been open since 1937 and it's still popping every single night in the heart of Jackson. If you do nothing else, be sure to spend at least one night here!
WE SAW A GRIZZLY BEAR Y'ALL!! I can't make this up. We adventure through Grand Teton National Park, The National Elk Refuge, and beyond. We saw so many cool animals such as Moose, Elk, Antelope, Mule deer, Bison (the most aggressive) and of course the Grizzly Bear! We had the best tour guide ever, and she taught us so much about the history, animals, their behaviors, and more! We even got some epic photos from her tripod she had set up for us to get a closer look. This was the coolest experience ever. Thank you so much to Tinggly for setting up this Wild Safari Adventure tour in Jackson!
You can never go wrong with a tour around Town Square in Jackson! The Town Square is surrounded by local businesses of all kinds including restaurants, art galleries, and retail shops. We stopped at several gift shops and hat shops to stock up on our tourist items before traveling home. If you're a coffee lover be sure to stop by "Cowboy Coffee", take in the beautiful mountains, and embrace the small town country feel -- you won't regret it! There is a LOT of history within Town Square and is the main attraction in Jackson!
PHOTOSHOOT TIME! We had the most magical winter wonderland morning with Eva from Evable Social. We had been DYING to work with her for some fun shots together to capture the Jackson area. Little did we know it would be a complete snow storm at the exact time we planned to shoot... but we made the best of it and Eva captured SOLID GOLD (check out the photos below!)! Wow, she is so talented and a trooper for toughing the cold with us. If you're traveling to the area and are looking to get some professional photos done with the creative powerhouse herself, hit our girl up!
Jackson, Wyoming was surely magical! It was the quaint country small town vibe we were looking for! Till next time....
XOXO
